Julie Walker had an appreciation for nature, a vision and a tight budget when she contacted the Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) to help her put together a vodcast in celebration of the U of C’s 40th Anniversary.

“I had been doing interpretive nature walks on campus for three years and had taken more than 300 staff members on tours to explore the plants, animals and art that make up the grounds,” says Walker. “The idea of a vodcast was appealing because I can share my story with a wider audience – staff, students and even the general public.”

With limited resources, Walker did as much on her own as she could to cut down costs. She dropped in photos and created content when she had time, then handed the project over to the TLC.

“I couldn’t have done this without the TLC,” says Walker. “The staff were so gracious with their time and expertise,” says Walker. “They respected the project as much as I was passionate about it. Even though my budget was small, I was never made to feel like my project was less important than anything else they were working on.”
